Do I need a website if my business already has Instagram?

Instagram is where people fall in love with your work. Your website is where they decide to call you. Here’s why you need both, and how to make them work together.

Many of our clients started on Instagram: lash artists, party decorators, bakers, personal trainers. And it worked. People saw their work, sent DMs and booked. Then growth slowed down. If that sounds familiar, the problem usually isn’t your content. It’s that Instagram can only take you so far.

What Instagram does really well

  • Shows your work in photos and video, which is perfect for visual businesses.
  • Builds a community that sees you every day.
  • Lets people reach you fast through DMs.
  • Helps new people discover you through reels, hashtags and shares.

Where Instagram falls short

You don’t own it

Your account can be hacked, restricted or lost, and the algorithm decides how many of your own followers see each post. Businesses that only live on one app can lose their main source of customers overnight.

Local customers search on Google

When someone needs a service nearby, they usually type it into Google or Google Maps: “lash extensions near me,” “party rentals Clifton NJ.” Those results are dominated by Google Business Profiles and websites. Since July 2025, public posts from professional Instagram accounts can appear in search engine results, but they rarely show up for local searches like these.

Important information gets buried

Prices, hours, service areas, policies and FAQs end up scattered across highlights, captions and pinned posts. Customers who can’t find an answer quickly often move on to the next business.

Not everyone is on Instagram

Many customers, especially companies, property managers and older clients, don’t use Instagram at all, or don’t want to send a DM to hire someone. A website and a phone number feel more established to them.

What a website gives you that Instagram can’t

  • A place on Google. Your website and your Google Business Profile work together to put you on the map.
  • Your own address, like yourbusiness.com, and a professional email to match.
  • Everything organized: services, prices, policies, service areas and answers to common questions.
  • Bookings, quotes and sales with forms, booking links or an online store.
  • Real data: how many people visit, where they come from and what they click.
  • Trust. A professional site tells people you’re a real, serious business.

How to make Instagram and your website work together

  1. Put your website in your bio, and link to the page people need most, like booking or prices.
  2. Use Instagram for proof and the website for the details. A reel shows the result; the website closes the deal.
  3. Link your Instagram from your website so visitors can see your latest work.
  4. Keep the same name, logo and colors everywhere, so people know it’s you.
  5. Send ads to a landing page, not to your profile. A page built for one offer turns more clicks into customers.

A real example

Dalashes, a lash artist in Elmwood Park, built her following on Instagram. Her website, which we designed and built, now does the work Instagram can’t: lash sets with clear prices, a gallery of real work, the studio’s details and online booking, in Spanish and English. Instagram brings the interest; the website turns it into appointments. You can see it in our portfolio.

Start simple

You don’t need a big website to start. A one-page landing page with your services, prices, photos and a WhatsApp button can be live fast and starts at $249.

Quick answers

Isn’t a link-in-bio page enough?

A link-in-bio page is a list of buttons. It doesn’t explain your services, it doesn’t show up when people search on Google and it looks the same as everyone else’s. A real website does all three.

How much does a simple website cost?

Our landing pages start at $249, and bigger sites get a written quote. Our guide on what a website costs in New Jersey breaks down typical prices.

Should I stop posting on Instagram once I have a website?

No. Keep posting. Instagram keeps people interested; your website makes it easy for them to become customers.

Will a website get me more followers?

It can, because you’ll link to your profile, but its real job is to get you customers: calls, messages, bookings and sales.
